Multiple Sclerosis Month: 5 Facts to Know

March 20th, 2017

Crown Hill Funeral Home & Cemetery is a proud part of Team MiSsion Possible, dedicated to making a difference for those impacted with Multiple Sclerosis (MS).  March is MS Awareness Month and is the appropriate time to share 5 facts about MS.

  1. Most people with MS are diagnosed between the ages of 25 and 31, although it can be diagnosed at any age.
  2.  The ratio of women with MS to men with MS is 2:1.
  3. Multiple sclerosis (MS) is one of the most common neurological disorders and causes of disability in young adults.
  4. MS is a chronic condition with varying symptoms.
  5. There are more than 400,000 people in the US and about 2.3 million people with MS worldwide. It is likely that hundreds of thousands more remain undiagnosed.

Follow us on Facebook.  Leading up the Indianapolis MS Walk, we will be sharing a series of images so you can help us increase MS Awareness.  Even more exciting, we will be donating $1 to The National MS Society, Indiana Chapter for every new follower on our Facebook page between March 22nd and April 22nd.

Cremation + Cemetery: Purpose of Place

March 15th, 2017

Cemeteries are place of heritage and of remembrance.  When cremation is selected the number of options expands and the purpose of place is personal.  Memories and feelings remain leading to the need for a purpose of place.

  1. Cremation_Cemetery_PurposeOfPlaceReflection: Many express the need of a place where they can visit and reflect.  Sometimes to share new events, to express struggles, or to reflect on memories with their loved one.  You can find peace when you remember your loved ones.
  2. Permanence: Each of us has a desire to know we have touched others and will be remembered.  A permanent place provides comfort knowing we will have a place to be remembered today and for generations to come.
  3. Closeness: Most families express that they feel close to their loved one when visiting a burial place.  With a dedicated space, it is like you can be with your loved one and can talk about things.  This closeness allows the loved one to remain in your heart.  You can take comfort knowing they are there and at peace.
  4. Tranquility: A cemetery can serve as a place of tranquility where you can think, sometimes pray, and often reflect.
  5. Options: Today, families are often trying to make decisions based on their loved one’s wishes and their own needs.  Cremation offers you options.  Ashes can be placed in small keepsake urns for family members or even placed in jewelry to keep your loved one close.  Urns can also be selected to reflect the personality of your loved one.  Their final resting place, especially when selecting cremation, can be customized to share the special character of your loved one.
