Oliver P. Morton (1823 - 1877)
Indiana's Governor during the Civil War. Elected lieutenant governor in 1860; took the chief executive's office when Governor Henry S. Lane was elected to the U.S. Senate in 1861and served seven years. Afterwards he served as a U.S. Senator from 1867 - 1877.
