EVENT & PUBLIC TOUR: PRESIDENT HARRISON’S BIRTHDAY CELEBRATION & Guided Walking Tour

Join us as we celebrate President Benjamin Harrison’s birthday at his memorial on Section 13. President Harrison (1833-1901), our nation’s 23rd president, served from 1889-1893. He was an Indianapolis lawyer and later served as a Civil War Colonel in the 70th Volunteer Infantry. Harrison, a Republican, won the presidential election in 1889 and served one term. His actual birthday is August 20th, so this year we’ll be celebrating his 185th birthday a couple of days early. Ceremony participants will be announced.

Learn interesting facts about President Harrison and his family on this one-hour guided walking tour. Other notables will also be included.
The ceremony will be held at President Harrison’s memorial on Section 13, located at the base of the Crown. Follow the white line painted on the road from either cemetery entrance. Refreshments will be available following the ceremony. The walking tour will depart from his memorial at approximately 11:30 am and last one hour. Wear comfortable walking shoes. The ceremony will be held in the event of rain but may be moved indoors. The tour may be canceled in the event of rain. Both the ceremony and tour are FREE.
