Betty Ann Rust

Betty Ann Rust passed away peacefully on November 23, 2012. A long time Indianapolis resident, Betty was active with the Indianapolis Museum of Art, Butler Ballet, Indianapolis Opera and the Indianapolis Symphony Orchestra. Born the daughter of Donald Arthur and Nellie Adams McMahill in Shenandoah, Iowa on February 1, 1920, she later attended Stephens College and the University of Kentucky where she met and married George Monroe Rust in 1940. In 1953, their family moved from Louisville, KY to Indianapolis raising 2 sons and capping a 51 year marriage. She and George were active members of the Woodland Country Club and Meridian Street United Methodist Church. They enjoyed trips to Europe, Asia, Pompano Beach and Sanibel Island, Florida. Widowed for 21 years, Betty now joins her beloved husband.
Betty is survived by her 2 sons, Donald Martin (Jane) and David Anthony (Anna). She has 4 grandchildren; Robert Rust, Julia Scott (Rex), Carolynn Starr (Roger), Sarah Rust and 2 great grandchildren; Ethan and Lucy Scott.
Private services will be held Tuesday, November 27th in the Gothic Chapel at Crown Hill Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Betty’s memory to the Indianapolis Symphony Orchestra, 32 Washington St, Ste 600, Indpls, IN 46204.
