MRS. ELLA MAE ECHOLS-SIMS, was born June 10th, 1937 in Hernando, Mississippi, to the late Orange and Caroline Echols. She attended school in Hernando, Mississippi and is the sixth of seven children. She professed her hope in Christ at an early age.
ELLA, along with family, moved to Indianapolis in the early 50’s where she was employed at RCA, American Janitorial Services and Meridian Insurance. Ella was blessed with two children, Annie Delorse Edwards, who proceeded her in death and James Ernest “Willie” Echols.
ELLA was a lively woman who enjoyed her family and was especially close to her sisters and several of her cousins. She enjoyed bingo, the game of Spades, cooking and an occasional trip to the casino. Ella was a very active woman who enjoyed being on the move!
ELLA was joined in holy matrimony to Percy L. Sims in 1975 and remained so until his death in 2013. She was a member of Open Door Church of Deliverance.
MRS. ELLA MAE ECHOLS-SIMS departed this life on Friday, April 14th, 2017 at the age of 79. She leaves to cherish her memory one son, James Ernest “Willie” Echols (Maria), 11 grandchildren, 25 great grandchildren and 20 great-great grandchildren and a host of other family members and friends.
Celebartion of Life Service will be held 12 noon Sunday April 23,2017 at Crown Hill Funeral Home Memorial Chapel. Calling starting at 11am until time of service. Interment Crown Hill Cemetery
