Ms. Anna M. Thompson

December 09, 1929 - March 11, 2017

In Loving Memory of Anna M. Thompson

Evangelist Anna Thompson, affectionately known as “Aunt Anna” to many, was born December 9, 1929 to parents Charles and Elsie Cushingberry Thompson in Indianapolis, Indiana.

Evangelist Thompson accepted Christ at an early age and attended to His call to spread the word among the land to all who would receive it.  After she was ordained in 1964, her mission work led her to California where she ministered for many years.

As her mother’s health began to fail, Anna returned home to take care of her.  Upon doing so, she united with Pleasant Union Baptist Church, were she was active on the Mother Board, Pastor Aid and the Choir ministries, she remained a faithful servant there for the remainder of her days.

Also upon her return from California, she was employed at Safeway Foods in 1988, from where she retired.  In 1998, she continued her work and ministry as a Senior Companion for the last 16 years.  She loved her work and remained in that capacity until her health began to fail.

Evangelist Anna Thompson ascended from labor to reward on Saturday, March 11, 2017 at the age of 87 years.  She was preceded in death by her parents; and her son Rodney Jones and brother, Charles Henry Thompson II.

She leaves to cherish her memory her brother, Charles Henry Thompson Jr; fiercely devoted niece, Elsie “Peaches” Darden (Gillous); nephew, Richard Lightfoot (Maddie), grand nieces & nephews, Tuewana, Robert, Deanna, Gillous Jr., Jean, great nieces and nephews, Frederick, Michael, Jazlyn, Daylan, Dashawn, Daniel, Gillous III , Journee and a host of other extended relatives as well as her Pleasant Union  Baptist Church family.
