Ms. June Ellen Uphaus

July 10, 1931 - December 28, 2009

June Ellen Uphaus 78, formerly of Columbus IN and currently of Greentown, IN passed away December 28, 2009. She was born July 10, 1931 in Indianapolis the daughter of the late Harry A. and Ruth Uphaus. June Graduated from Broad Ripple High School and Butler University. She was a history teacher at Zionsville High School and then at Columbus North High School until her retirement. June was always available to help any student during school or after school if the student needed help. In her quiet way she helped many students financially to further their education.
June loved her years as a camp counselor at Camp Jorn in Wisconsin. She was an avid Colts fan and Bulldog fan for both Butler and Columbus North.
June never married and considered her cousins Lois Turner-Hepler her sister rather than cousin. Lois’ children were her niece’s and nephews. Survivors include cousins, Lois Turner-Hepler and Willbur H, Watts. Lois children Debra Bogue, Robert Turner, Bruce Turner, Kevin Turner, Nicole Blanford and Ashley Turner, Williams sons Steven and Ronald Watts.
The Family so appreciates all the loving care June received from the entire staff at Country Villa Healthcare, her neighbors in Columbus, who were her adopted family and all of her friends who sent cards and notes. A most grateful thank you to Debbie and Phil Bogue, Greentown who were with her the past six months and especially this past month when the rest of the family could not be there every day.
Funeral services will be Monday January 4, 2010 at 12:00 pm in the Gothic Chapel of Crown Hill Cemetery, 34th Street and Boulevard Place entrance. Calling will be from 10:00 am -12:00 PM. Interment will be in Crown Hill Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the Bartholomew County Humane Society, P.O. Box 1088 Columbus, IN, 47202.
