In Loving Memory of Dorothy L. Bridgewater
Dorothy L. Bridgewater was born on November 6, 1932 to the late Robert Cheney Sr., and Hattie M. Adams-Cheney-Tyler in Atlanta , GA.
Dorothy was a strong woman who had a giving spirit and a pure heart. A very impressionable person sometimes going unfiltered. She would often say “she was a realist, I will always tell it like it is”, and she did..
Dorothy Louise Bridgewater was a loving and devoted mother to her sons Norman, Joseph, and Stanley and her granddaughter’s Nikia and Natalie. She was always encouraging and very supportive to them in their lives.
Dorothy loved and adored her great-grandchildren; Maxim, Cruze and Celeste immensely and was always excited when they came to visit. She made it a nightly ritual to kiss their pictures before going to bed by responding softly “goodnight Grammy’s babies, I love you.”
Dorothy L. Bridgewater departed this life on Tuesday, April 11, 2017. She was preceded in death by husband, Joseph E. Bridgewater Sr., son, Norman C. Bridgewater, mother, Hattie Mae Adams –Cheney-Tyler, father, Robert Cheney Sr., sister, Mary Lee Brown, brothers; Edwards Cheney and Hubert Cheney.
Dorothy leaves to cherish her memory her sons; Joseph E. Bridgewater and Stanley R. Bridgewater, granddaughters; Nikia C. (Vaugh) Godet, Natalie C. (Richard) Hinkle, great-grandchildren; Maxim Godet, Cruze Godet, Celeste Hinkle, sisters; Daisy Tyler, Elizabeth Kirk, JoAnn Cheney, brothers; Robert Cheney Jr., Johnny Tyler and a host of nieces, nephews and dear friends.
