Annie B. Rainey passed away on June 10, 2017. A visitation will be held on Friday, June 16, 2017 at Crown Hill Funeral Home (700 W. 38th St, Indianapolis, IN 46208) from 10:00 a.m. A Celebration of Life Service will begin at 12:00 p.m. Burial to immediately follow at Crown Hill Cemetery.

Funeral Information

Annie Foster Rainey was born March 6, 1927 in Helm, Mississippi to the late Robert and Mary Porter Foster. She attended  Bethlehem School of Shaw, Mississippi.

She professed a hope in Christ at an early age in attended Galilee Baptist Church in Helm, Mississippi.

Melvin and Annie Foster were united in Holy matrimony on July 27, 1946 and together they shared 68 years of martial bliss. No biological children were born to this union however; she was a caring and nurturing mother to Lu, Geraldine and Vonnie. She also raised numerous children as her own and opened up her home and her heart to any family member in need.

After moving to Indianapolis in 1946, she united with the St. John Missionary Baptist Church. She was a Food Assistant at L.S. Ayres for over 30 years, retiring in 1990.

Annie Foster Rainey departed this life, Saturday, June 10, 2017 at the age of 90 years, 3 months and 4 days.

She was preceded in death by her soul mate, Melvin Rainey, brother; Allen Foster, Robert Foster, George Foster, Henry Foster, Roy Lee Foster, Charlie Foster, sisters; Mary Foster Burton and Martha Foster Williamson.  

She leaves to cherish her memory; her sisters, Roberta Foster Franklin, Luphelia Foster Anderson, James C, (Anita) Foster, Doretha Foster Eldridge, Charles C. Porter, Velma Dean Montgomery, Dorothy Mae Dean, Jesse Mae Lewis, Barbara Gordon, Emma Stubbs and a host of nephew, nieces and friends.
