In Loving Memory of Ermalene Davis-Harris
Ermalene Davis-Harris was born on August 20, 1936 to the late Mrs. Latonia (Wiley) Chavis and Ervin Davis in Thornton, Arkansas. She was the oldest of 8 children. Ermalene accepted Christ at an early age and graduated from Calhoun High School.
Ermalene was 18 years old when she left the state of Arkansas and moved to Indianapolis, Indiana, specifically the eastside of town. She married Freddie Harris and to this union one child was born, Ronald A. Harris.
Ermalene retired from Allison Transmission Plant after 33 years of faithful service, were she was a skilled die tool-maker. There was nothing Ermalene couldn’t mold or shape out of metal.
She truly believed in the scripture Deuteronomy 5:16, “Honor your father and mother as the Lord your God has commanded you, then you will live longer.”
Ermalene is preceded in death by her parents, siblings; Harry Chavis, J.D. Chavis, Juneus Chavis Jr., and Christene Brown.
She leaves behind to cherish her memories son: Ronald A. Harris, grandson, Montez A. (Tina) Harris, special daughter, Stacey L. (Charles) Wiley, sister, Lillie Chavis, brother, Clarence Chavis, granddaughters; Bridget Chandler, Jessica M. Bryant, great-grandson, Cortez D. Rivers, a very special nephew that she spoke with 365 days a year (never missing a day) Gerald Chavis, special brother-in-law, Edward Harris and a host of nieces, nephews and friends.
A service is scheduled for Saturday, April 1, 2017, 12:00 p.m., at Crown Hill Funeral Home, 700 W. 38th St., Indianapolis, IN 46208, with a visitation from 10:00 a.m.
