Virginia Ann Hoosier was born on May 26, 1936, in Dresden, Tennessee to the late Roscoe V. and Mille I. Baucom-Ward. She made her transitioned from labor to reward on Tuesday, April 25, 2017.

Having lived in Tennessee, Kentucky, Illinois, Ohio and Michigan, Indianapolis, Indiana, you were lucky – she chose you as HOME. Virginia was married to John H. Hoosier, who preceded her in death. She was a determined person, never accepting that she couldn’t do something and always finding ways to show you that she could. At the age of forty-nine years old, she received an Associate Degree in Early Childhood Education from Cuyahoga Community College and learned how to use and work a computer at the age of sixty.

Virginia was a member of Mount Paran Missionary Baptist Church and retired from IPS after 15 years of service. She is preceded in death by brothers; Harry C. Gardner, Alonzo L. Thompson and Willie T. Ward. Sisters; Katherine Gaines and Dorothy Ward.

Virginia Ann Hoosier leaves to cherish her memory daughter, Tiara Robinson, granddaughter, Taliyah Ann Ellis, dear friend, Rita Brown, sister, Mildred (Nolan) Phelps, sister-in-law, Fannie Gardner, nephews; Eddie, Earl, Cornell and Kirk Gardner, Rubin (Sally) Mathis, nieces; Gloria Gardner, Patsy Tracey, Doris McCray, Ruth Ward, Janice Short and Latanya Watson. She also leaves many great nieces and nephews and a host of other relatives and friends. 

 A service will be held on Saturday, May 6, 2017 at 12:00 p.m., at Crown Hill Funeral Home (700 W. 38th St, Indianapolis, IN 46208), with visitation from 10:00 a.m. Entombment to immediately follow at Crown Hill Cemetery.
