Gay Elizabeth Seawood was born to John Thomas Haslett and Lula Gay Haslett November 1, 1944 who preceded her in death. Gay graduated from Vaiden Negro High School in 1964,  Vaiden, Mississippi. Gay united in Holy Matrimony with James Seawood, May 27, 1965. To this union three children were born, Curtis, Karen, and Kelvin. In 1975 Gay received an Associates of Science in Nursing from Indiana University. Her compassion for helping others inspired her to pursue her bachelor’s degree. Gay received her Bachelor of Science in Nursing on May 9, 1993 from Indiana University. She was a passionate Acute Dialysis and occupational nurse for 36 years. During her free time she was either outside in her garden or somewhere collecting antiques. She also enjoyed crocheting and making photo albums of her family. Gay was deeply family oriented. She lost her mother at a very early age, causing her to appreciate her relationships with her uncles and aunts. Gay departed this life June 11, 2017. She leaves to cherish her memory to James, her husband of 52 years. Her son Curtis (Charletta) Seawood, daughter Karen (Andre) Robinson, and  youngest son Kelvin (Dawn) Seawood. Her sister Rene Campbell and her brothers John & Clarence Haslett. Grandchildren Chadrick Moss, Alisha Seawood, Curtis Jerel Seawood, Adrian Seawood, Zoyi Brown, Zavier Brown, DeVonte’ Williams-Seawood, Jhaden Seawood, and Janiah Seawood. A Host of nieces and nephews and 6 great grandchildren.

Funeral Information

Services will be held at Crown Hill Funeral Home on Saturday, June 17, 2017 at 2 pm with a visitation period two hours prior.
