Beloved son, brother, father, grandfather

and great grandfather.  Lawrence passed away on

October 19, 2016 at his home in Avon, Indiana.

He was born on May 12, 1925 in Champagne, Illinois. He was 91 years old.

Born to parents Harvey Lawrence Thompson and Della Blair Thompson.

 He grew up in Greenwood, Indiana where he attended Clark Pleasant High School, A Veteran of WWII he joined the Navy in 1942 and served until the end of WWII. He then re-enlisted in 1959 and served for another ten years before joining the Army National Guard until his retirement in 1986. He was a member of Buelah Baptist Church, 1002 S Warman Ave since 1988. He was certified as an Ordained Minister through his Church in May of 1996. One of his favorite things to do was singing and playing his guitar for the church members during services. And enjoyed driving the church bus as well. He loved his family and his church. A lifelong animal lover, he never turned a stray away. And was always willing to help anyone that needed a hand. He is survived by his children, Son Michael Thompson of New Mexico, Son Harvey Thompson and Wife Ruth of Marshall, Illinois, Daughter Debbie Hamilton and Husband Jeff of Greenwood, IN, Son Paul Thompson and Wife Joyce of Greenwood, IN, Daughter Jennifer Stone of Indianapolis, IN, Daughter Julie Drew and Husband Michael of Summerville, SC, Daughter Kellie Thompson of Indianapolis, IN, Daughter Heather Manes of Avon, IN, Son Steven Thompson of Avon, IN, 21 grandchildren and 23 great grandchildren.  Sisters Shirley Lahmann and Sandra Jennings. He was preceded in death by both of his parents, Sister Wanda M Jackson of Indianapolis, and Brother Wayne L Thompson of Louisville, KY.

Funeral Information

Services will be held 12 p.m. Monday, October 24, 2016 at Crown Hill Funeral Home. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until time of service.
