Mr. Edward J. Reed

Edward J. Reed 80, Indianapolis, died October 2, 2009. He graduated from Broad Ripple High School class of 1947 and Butler University class of 1956, with a B.S. in Pharmacy. He served in the U.S. Navy as an Aviation Radioman from 1948-1952. He retired from Eli Lilly in 1988 after over 30 years of service. He served on the Alumni Board of Directors of Butler University from 1975 to 1981. He was also a member of the Kappa Psi Pharmacy Fraternity, American Legion and Meridian Street United Methodist Church. He was an active volunteer for VITA IRS Tax Assistance Program and the Indiana Literacy Program. He is survived by his wife, Charlotte Reed; daughter, Kim Miller (Jeff-spouse); son, Greg Reed (Stephanie-spouse) and 4 grandchildren, Karie, Kyle, Scott and Madison. He was preceded in death by parents, Leonard H. and Roberta M. Gilson Reed and a brother, Robert C. Reed. Visitation will be from Noon until 2 p.m. in the Gothic Chapel in Crown Hill Cemetery on Monday, October 5, 2009, with services following at 2 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to Meridian Street UMC or the Multiple Myeloma Foundation.
