Ms. Yolanda Duckworth was born on May 18, 1962 in Chicago, Illinois to William Duckworth and Sarah Marie Stigler-Terry. Yolanda went to Indianapolis Public Schools where she graduated from Arlington High School.Between the years 1981 and 1984 Yolanda had three beautiful children. In 1987, she was in a tragic
car accident that left her quadriplegic. During her 29 years of being paralyzed she has beaten a lot of odds. She has proven to many that she is a fighter. She never let her disability discourage her to be independent, to be involved and try different things. Yolanda was a proud member of Eastern Star Baptist Church for many years and found her home at Light of the World Christian Church where she confessed her love to Jesus Christ. She got involved in a marathon and attended many family events and special occasions to include grandkids events and graduations.Yolanda's favorite things was baking in the sun during the summer months, spending time with her family, being entertained by her grandkids, and watching her favorite cartoons and TV shows Dragon Ball Z, The Young and the Restless, and going out to the movies with her sister Trinette and nephews to see the new Transformers and Avengers movies.Yolanda was preceeded in death her step-father James W. "Butch" Terry and grandparents Olga and Lewis Stigler. Yolanda went home to be with the Lord on March 1, 2017 at the age of fifty-four years ten months and seventeen days. She leaves to cherish her memory her three children: Marlina Swanson (Rayford Brown Jr.), Mahari McGinty, and Hazel Bailey; two grandsons and seven granddaughters; two sisters: Olga Hoosier and Trinette Terry; mother Sarah Stigler-Terry and father William Duckworth along with seven nephews and two nieces and a host of family and friends.
A visitation will be held on Saturday, March 11, 2017 from 10:00 a.m - 12:00 p.m at Crown Hill Funeral Home, 700 W. 38th St., Indianapolis, IN 46208. A Celebration of Life Service will begin at 12pm. Burial to immediately follow at Washington Park North Cemetery.
