In Loving Memory of Estella Y. Smith

Evangelist Estella Y. Smith was born March 28, 1921 in Swiftown , Miss. To parents Emma and Paris H Young.  Her father, a school teacher passed away when she was 8 years old.  Her mother was a midwife.

Estella was schooled in Memphis, Tenn.  She became a beautician and worked for 17 years as an assistant beautician retiring in 1986 from L.S. Ayres Beauty Shop.

Estella married Luther H. Smith in 1958; this marriage lasted for 26 wonderful years until his death.  Although Estella had no children of her own, she mentored many young people.  Eriq Rory is one who has become so close they had a grandmother, grandson relationship.

Estella didn’t know much about Holiness but she had a desire for a better life which she found the Lord in 1951, in Milwaukee, Wis.  She realized that the only way she could make it in life was to trust in God.  Prayer and fasting leaning on the Lord become a way of life for her after finding him.  Estella found joy in her journey with Christ and served when ever she was asked.

Estella was her Church’s Secretary about 20 years.  She also served as a Teacher for the Sunday School,  YPWW, and prayer and Bible Band.  Estella served as a District Home and Foreign Mission President for 15 years.

Estella’s Personal theme for her life is; I can do all things through Christ which strengthens  me.  Philippians 4:13.  Estella Smith really loved the Lord.

Estella leaves to cherish her memory on nephew: Joe W. Young, Chicago, Ill. Three nieces: Linda Ying (Paul) Staten island, NY, Emma C. Evans, Memphis, TN., Thelma L. Baker, Indianapolis, IN.  many great nieces, great nephews, cousins, special friends marvin and Jerrie Blade, Eriq and Yolonda Rory and a loving Church family.
