W. Joyce Malston W. Joyce Malston peacefully left this world on January 23, 2012 at the age of 86. She left behind her beloved husband, Joe Malston, and cherished daughters, Bette Gumerson, Suzanne Ruth (Rick), and Linda McNairy, (Mel). She was also the proud grandmother of Matthew McNairy (Kelly), Riley Ruth, Karly Ruth, Joey Ruth, Chase Ruth, and Tony Tuite (Rachel). She adored her great granddaughter, Anna McNairy. Joyce was born in Marion, IN, the youngest daughter of a minister. Her siblings, Edwin Dunkin and Jean Radcliffe predecease her. After graduating as the Salutatorian of Garrett High School, she attended Wheaton College where she earned a degree in Secretarial Science. She went on to teach school in Angola, IN before moving to Indianapolis where she had a successful career as a bookkeeper and executive secretary. She moved to Moab, Utah where she continued her secretarial career with the Bureau of Land Management. She enjoyed her retirement back in Indianapolis with her family and friends. She was a long time member of First Baptist Church. She lived her life daily with a quiet and unassuming strength of spirit and character which she gained through her strong Christian faith. Her example of selflessly helping anyone in need, from her family to her neighbors, coworkers, or strangers will be remembered. Funeral InformationA funeral service will be held at 1:00 PM Friday, January 27 at First Baptist Church, 8600 N. College Avenue. Calling hours will be from 11:00 AM until the time of the funeral service at the church. Burial will be in Crown Hill Cemetery.
