Donna J. Mouser, 82, of Indianapolis, passed away March 1st, 2017. She was born in Kingman, IN to Max and Beulah Renick.
Donna graduated from Shortridge High School then attended Indiana University for two years. She finished her collegiate work in the Jordan College of Music at Butler University.
Donna began her career working for a local advertising firm writing commercials. This led her to being hired by one of the local TV stations to model Davidson Furs which aired prior to the Jack Paar show. Along with this, she hosted talent shows for aspiring singers and dancers and during one of these shows, was asked to join the modeling staff of L.S Ayres, where Donna came to embody Ayres’s long established slogan, “That Ayres Look”. She also spent time speaking at Career Days at local high schools to promote student interest in the fashion and modeling industry.
Later in Donna’s career, she left modeling to become a journalist, working with various publications writing columns on fashion as well as articles on the successful growth of local businesses. She then joined a suburban radio station, WHYT, as a host interviewing local personalities. Eventually she joined Our Town Indianapolis magazine as Vice President/Sales Director before retiring in 1986.
Donna is preceded in death by her husband, Dr Robert W. Mouser, her daughter, Shawn Nguyen and son in law Nguyen Nguyen. She is also preceded in death by her sisters Carol Renick and Glee Renick May (Conrad) as well as her brother, Daniel Renick. She is survived by her brother Bill Renick (Claudia). Donna leaves behind her son, Duane Elliott, stepdaughters Cindy Shamo (Steve) and Laura Mouser and stepson Brad Mouser, grandchildren Zach Elliot, Kate Elliot, Julia Shamo, Simon Shamo and Tyler Wilson.
Services for Donna will be held Saturday, March 11th at 9:00 am in the Chapel of Marquette Manor, 8140 Township Line Rd. with a gathering following from 10:00 to noon.
