How Did We Do?

Phillip Perkins Sr. age 76 was born November 26, 1941 in Indianapolis, Indiana to the union of Peter Perkins Sr. and Hazel Eson Perkins Moore. Phillip was the second oldest of six children. The Moore family moved to Cairo, Illinois when he was very young. He attended Garrison Elementary School. Later the family moved to Oak Hill, Ohio where he attended Giia Elementary and Junior High School. The family returned to Indianapolis, Indiana where Phillip attended Shortridge High School. He left school his senior year to help his family on the farm. He later obtained his GED.
Phillip worked with his Step-Father Eugene Moore and a uncle for the Geico Construction Company where he became a Cement Mason. He worked for various construction companies including Willham and retired from the Charlie Wells Construction Company in Indianapolis. Phillip was a Christian and a great man of faith in God. He was a member of the Saint Paul AME Church where his last position was a usher. He loved the Lord and often encouraged family and friends to not wait to have a relationship with the Lord but do it while you are young so you can grow close to him.
Phillip married the love of his life, Sharon Johnson, on September 10, 1966. To this union they were blessed with two sons. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather. He taught his sons to be men, how to work and be loving husbands and fathers. Phillip loved his family and would do anything he could for them. He loved to fish and work with his hands during gardening and lawn care until his health began to fail.
Phillip transitioned to be with the Lord April 9,2018 peacefully surrounded by his family and loved ones. His favorite scripture John 3:16 is an assurance that one day he will dwell in the house of the Lord forever.
Phillip was preceded in death by his father Peter Perkins Sr., brother Harold Wayne Moore, his beloved wife OF 35 YEARS Sharon L. Perkins in 2001, Step-Father Eugene Moore and oldest brother Peter Perkins Jr.
Phillip leaves to cherish his memories His Mother Hazel Eson Perkins Moore, his sons Phillip Jr.(wife Felecia) and Lindsey(Keisha) both of Indianapolis. Siblings, one brother Eugene Moore(Ann) of Benicia, California, two sisters Stephanie(Tom) Payne and Denise Moore of Louisville, Kentucky. He leaves a loving best friend and companion Shirley A. Brown along with her children, a special brother-in-law Carl(JoAnn) Johnson and sister in law Mary Ann Perkins. He also leaves 14 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren, a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. He will be sadly missed.

To the family,
For this cause I bow my knees unto the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, Of whom the whole family in heaven and earth is named, That he would grant you, according to the riches of his glory, to be strengthened with might by his Spirit in the inner man; That Christ may dwell in your hearts by faith; that ye, being rooted and grounded in love, May be able to comprehend with all saints what is the breath, and length, and depth, and height; And to know the love of Christ, which passeth knowledge, that ye might be filled with all fullness of God.
It is with this love that we greet each of you during your time of bereavement. Blessed are they that mourn: for they shall be comforted. Our prayers will be for each of you. Weeping may endure for a night, but joy will come in the morning.
For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.
We humbly submit and resolve to the will of God in the home-going of Phillip Perkins, Sr. into the hands of the Master.
Therefore my beloved brethren, be ye steadfast, unmovable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, forasmuch as ye know, that your labor is not in vain in the Lord. I Corinthians 15:58
