Caroline Beck died on September 9, 2018, age 97. She was born August 21, 1921 to Orie Kinney and Ethel Hendershot in Spencer Indiana, the 7th of 11 children.
She loved learning and was an adept student. After graduating from Spencer High School, she graduated from Indiana University in 1944 with a degree in nursing and was a Head Nurse at Coleman Hospital during WWII.
She married Dr. Evart Beck in 1946 and they enjoyed a loving marriage for 65 years. Her love and appreciation of music, literature and art remained constant throughout her life as did her thirst for knowledge and information. She was a docent at the Indianapolis Museum of Art, frequently volunteered and participated in book clubs, investment clubs, and garden clubs.
Generous and loving, she touched many lives and will be sorely missed. Preceded in death by her husband, Evart M. Beck, she is survived by her children, Jim (Mary) Beck, Barbara (Mark) Wibel, Patricia (Michael) Audet, Stephen (Kimberly) Beck and grandchildren, Jon, Marissa (David), Adrienne and Sophie.
Funeral services will be held privately. Memorial donations may be made to Northminster Presbyterian Church, 1660 Kessler Blvd., Indianapolis, 46220.
It was a privilege to know Caroline. I met her just over 10 years ago when Bob Bly retired as her and Dr. Beck's investment advisor. She was always intellectually curious about investment programs and strategy and not afraid to take a chance. She was always gracious in her demeanor with a pleasant smile. The world was a better place because of Caroline.
Caroline was my "Other Mother". I'm grateful for the years I was lucky enough to spend with her and Tom. Love, Charlotte
