Formerly of Indianapolis - age 78, entered eternal life on May 7, 2020. He was born January 10, 1942 in Kansas City, Missouri to the late Gerald G. and Alice (Broyles) Thomas. He was a 1960 Ben Davis graduate. Roger served in the U.S. Army after graduating from Indiana University where he was a member of Kappa Delta Rho Fraternity. He worked at RCA, then owned his own real estate and life insurance agency in Indianapolis. After committing his life to Jesus Christ, he later attended Trinity Evangelical Divinity School and received a Masters of Evangelism. He served as a pastor with the Christian and Missionary Alliance for 28 years and Police Chaplain concurrently for 20 years. He pastored churches in Indianapolis, Plant City and Sanford, Florida. He also was the Indiana State Chairman for the National Day of Prayer. Roger passed away on this year's National Day of Prayer May 7.
Roger is survived by his devoted wife of 52 years, Barbara "Bobby" (Wall) Thomas; sons, Rev. Mark Thomas (Julie) and Brad Thomas; daughter, Kelly (Thomas) Neighbors (Charlie); brother, George Thomas; and grandchildren, Jordan Thomas (Ashleigh), Abby Thomas, Lane Thomas, Adam Thomas, Kaley Thomas, Tyler Neighbors, Jacob Neighbors, Caleb Neighbors, and Max Neighbors.
Friends and family are invited to the public viewing from 12-2pm on Saturday, May 30, 2020 at Crown Hill Cemetery in Indianapolis, Indiana. To facilitate social distancing 10 people at a time will be able to visit during the viewing. Please wear your own mask. There will be a memorial graveside service to celebrate Roger's life at 2pm. The graveside service will accommodate 25 attendees in the immediate area and any others in close proximity. Those unable to attend may participate in the service by following the Facebook Live stream to be posted on Crown Hill's Facebook page at approximately 2pm and pictures from his life are viewable at www.MeM.com by searching his name.
